NEW
DG ON IMPROMPTU VISIT TO NGA HQTRS
“We have been expecting you,” was
the sing-song by directors as the new Director General, National Gallery of Art
(NGA), Ahmed Sodangi with a six-man entourage, went from one office to the
other in an unofficial tour of NGA headquarters yesterday. As news of his
presence spread like wild fire, other staff came out of their offices to have a
glimpse of the young new chief executive, waving excitedly.
He was at the offices of the Ag.
Directors, Human Resources Management, Adewale Alabi; Finance and Accounts,
Everestus Ogbodo; Educational Services,
Mrs. Tonia Okonkwo; Legal Services, Barr. Ramjul Voncir and Director, Special
Duties, Magnus Ojeonu. The DG expressed happiness on seeing them but explained
that he merely came to “see the fine faces of the staff” as he is yet to resume
formally.
Other offices visited were the
Registry, Library, Planning & Research and Curatorial Services. The staff
on ground, welcomed him warmly. The Deputy Director, Information Services, Oji
Onoko, and two staff of Information Services, Jamila Abdulkarim and Precious Oparaugo
took the new DG on the guided tour.
He had arrived suddenly and went
straight to his office on Block C, 4th floor around 11 am. “I want
to see other staff and offices of NGA,” he had declared, once he came out of
his office. He was then taken to Block E: 2nd Floor, 9th
floor and back to 2nd floor. The tour was rounded off with a group
photograph with the directors present; the roll up banner of NGA, serving as
the background.
