The National Gallery of Art is led by the Director – General and supported by eleven Directors and six Zonal Coordinators, each overseeing key operational and strategic areas of NGA mission.

Ahmed Bashir Sodangi

Director - General

Ahmed Bashir Sodangi, from Katsina State Nigeria holds a Master’s degree in Management and International Business from The Birmingham City University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Management) from the American University of Nigeria.

Ahmed has accumulated a wealth of experience, over the course of his career, where he has been shown to posses unmatched skill sets in negotiation, team building, leadership, strategic planning, and management.

Ahmed has been part of the Projects office in the SME Directorate at the Bank of Industry Ltd (BOI) since 2018. He was charged with the responsibility of processing credit applications, deal flow generation, Loan recovery and collection, including the management of both performing and non-performing loans; and overseeing the administration and implementation of approved projects. Ahmed worked at various state offices around the county, including the Ogun state office, Niger state office, the Lagos state head office, and Kaduna state office, While at Bank of Industry.  

Prior to working at The Bank of Industry Ltd, Ahmed held the position of Operations and Charter Manager at IZMM Global Aviation Ltd from 2015 to 2018 and worked in the Admin Department of Songhai Aviation Ltd from 2013 to 2014. 

Ahmed complemented his professional and academic qualifications with various training programs, acquiring skills in Personal Leadership & Emotional Intelligence, Credit Analysis, Project Appraisal, Business Etiquette, Micro-credit Financing, and more. He is known for his effective use of emotional intelligence in the workplace, proficiency in spoken and written English and Hausa, and his enthusiasm for team project participation, which has honed his project management, teamwork, and communication skills.

As an avid sportsman, some of his volunteering activities include being the Treasurer of Kaduna Polo Club which further demonstrate his commitment to delivering projects soundly and on time throughout his relevant experiences.

Director General Service

Mrs Ekene Genevive Olivia Okoroma,

Director, General Services Department.

Mrs Ekene Genevive Olivia Okoroma, is the Director of General Services at the National Gallery of Art. She was employed into the services of N.G.A as a pioneer staff in 1993 as an Administrative Officer I, from where she rose to her present position as director. With over 31 years of experience in the gallery, she has served as Head of Admin and Staff Development N.G.A Lagos, Head of Research and Education N.G.A Lagos, and Head of Station/Curator
N.G.A Lagos from 2009 to 2022 to her present appointment.
Adept at administration, curation and art management, Mrs. Okoroma holds a BA(HONS) degree in History from the University of Port Harcourt, as well as a Masters degree from the same institution. She has also achieved several other professional certifications towards the advancement of her career. She is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Administrators and International Council of Museums (ICOM).

VONCIR RAMJUL JESSE Esq.

Director, Legal Services.

He is a graduate of University of Jos with LL.B (Hons). He attended Nigeria Law School V.I. Lagos Campus where he obtained BL. He is a member of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). An Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is also a member certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

MUFU ONIFADE, PhD, fsna

Director, Curatorial Services Department.

Mufu Onifade obtained ND, General Arts from The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he won the Best Student Prize and Certificate of Training from the African Art Museum and Training Institute, Ethiopia. He also holds B.A. (Hons.), Fine Arts and M.A. Art History) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife with the overall best results in the department of Fine Arts. A renowned artist, Onifade who invented the famous Araism painting technique is a Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists.

Alabi Adewale Ismail

Director, Human Resources Management.

Alabi Adewale Ismail holds a Bachelor of Education from University of Ibadan and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife.
He is a member of Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria.
He joined the service of National Gallery of Art in October 2001 as an Administrative Officer I.
He was appointed as Curator/Head of Station, National Gallery of Art Osogbo Station.
He was appointed Deputy Director Overseeing the office of the Director, General Service department in March 2023 and presently the Acting Director, Human Resources Management.

Mr. Everestus Uzo Ogbodo

Director, Finance and Accounts Department.

Mr. Everestus Uzo Ogbodo, holds a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from Anambra State University of Technology and University of Nigeria Nsukka respectively. He also holds a Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Accounting.

He is an Associate member of Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN) and also the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Before his appointment into the NGA, Mr. Ogbodo worked with Eungu State Post Primary Education Board where he taught at Emene Girls Secondary School.
He also served as Local Government Councilor representing his ward from 1999 – 2002. Prior to that, Mr Ogbodo worked with Anambra Vegetable Oil Products (AVOP) from 1991 to 1998

He joined the services of National Gallery of Art in 2004 as a Senior Accountant. 

Emeka Chijioke Odiari

Director, Information Services Department.

Emeka Chijioke Odiari holds a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Federal Polythecnic, Oko, Anambra State. He also obtained a PGD and a Masters Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the Lagos State University, Ojo Lagos. A member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Emeka has attended several courses .

He joined the service of National Gallery of Art in November 2004 as an Administrative Executive (Public Relations) and grew through the ranks, serving in Protocol Unit on a few occasions. Mr. odiari worked all through in NGA Lagos outstation until his recent appointment as Acting Director, Information Services Department here at the Abuja Headquarters.

A native of Onitsha, Anambra State, he is married with children.

Sisanwumi Ikeotuonye

Director of Planning and Research

Sisanwumi Ikeotuonye graduated from the University of Benin, Benin City and began her working career in the private sector. 

After gaining valuable experience, she joined the service of the National Gallery of Art in 2007. Over the years, she has served in capacities including Head, Planning and Research, Lagos and Zonal Coordinator, South West.

She is presently the Director of Planning and Research, Abuja.    

Dr. Mrs. Odogwu Peace Nwaolili.

Ag. Director, Documentation and Monitoring Department.

Dr. Odogwu holds a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, she also obtained her Master’s degree and B.Ed. (Hons) in the same field from the same institution. In addition, she earned the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from the Anambra State College of Education, Awka.

Before her appointment with the National Gallery of Art (NGA), she taught at Command Secondary School, Oshodi from where she joined the services of NGA in 2001 as a Senior Education Officer and have, over the years, risen through the ranks.

Dr. Odogwu have served in various capacities, including: Head, Educational Services Department, Lagos; Head of Station/Curator, Lagos and Zonal Coordinator, South-West

She is presently the Acting Director, Documentation and Monitoring at NGA headquarters in Abuja

Mr. Olakitan Uzoma Onamusi

Head of Procurement Department

Mr. Olakitan Uzoma Onamusi is a certified accountant with a strong background in organisational behaviour and procurement management. He holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Accounting and became a certified procurement officer in 2019. Following his certification, he was redeployed to the Procurement Department with the mandate to ensure value for money, timely delivery, and strict compliance with procurement regulations.

He is an Associate Member of both the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Institute of Procurement.

Mr. Onamusi joined the National Gallery of Art in 2001 as a Higher Executive Officer and has risen through the ranks, serving in various capacities over the years. From 2011 to 2019, he served as the organisation’s Cashier and Accountant.

He currently serves as the Head of the Procurement Department.
