NATIONAL VISUAL ART COMPETITION
This programme is aimed at discovering and consolidating on the artistic genius of Nigerian pupils, students and professional artists while assisting them to enhance their skills and creative abilities. The competition is usually organized in four categories (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and Professional). It is also targeted at achieving a rapid economic development.
NIGERIAN VISUAL ART WORLD TOUR (NIVATOUR)
This is geared towards improving the status of modern Nigerian artists by exposing the visual art subsector through multi-lateral relationship/partnerships and training to the rest of the world. It also aims at showcasing the best of modern Nigerian art through all the developmental stages.
AFRICA REGIONAL SUMMIT AND EXHIBITION ON VISUAL ARTS (ARESUVA)
The African Regional Summit and Exhibition on Visual Arts is designed to promote Visual Arts as a tool for achieving rapid economic development in sub–Saharan Africa, bringing together leaders in creative industry, business, politics, and media across African countries to discuss key issues shaping the subsector. Usually, it features a symposium, a workshop and an exhibition fostering networking among participants.
INTERNATIONAL ART EXPO
The Art Expo is an art exposition that involves bringing together various artists from all over Nigeria and the continent/world to showcase their works. This is achieved through private galleries representing the featured artists, for appreciation, patronage and acquisition. The idea is to create a market that is viable and robust and is tailored after other global brands such as the Art expo New York, las Vegas, Berlin, South Africa, etc. The event is purposely designed to be held in collaboration with the Art Galleries Association of Nigeria (AGAN).
ART OF FRIENDSHIP
Art of Friendship is another programme of the NGA with World’s platform for showcasing the artistic talents that abound in 3 (three) different continents of Africa, Asia and Europe. The synergy creates international markets for the member nations to which Nigeria belongs. It is also an avenue for building new partnerships with the organized private sector. The exhibitions are rotated among the participating 5-member Nations namely Nigeria, South Korea, China, France and Australia. The main focus is to promote multilateral relationship amongst member Nations and to forestall economic and creative imbalances among them.
WORLD ART DAY
The objective of this programme is to commemorate the visual arts globally. It holds April 15th of every year, a commemorative date set aside by the General assembly of the International Association of Art (IAA) and UNESCO. The NGA joins the rest of the visual art world to celebrate by hosting an exhibition and various art events on that day.
INDEPENDENCE DAY EXHIBITION
This is another commemorative exhibition that holds every year on October 1st in celebration of Nigeria’s independenceanniversary. The exhibition features art works by Nigerian artists that promote and celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the creative spirit
NATIONAL PORTRAIT EXHIBITION
This a dedicated exhibition purposely desitgned to feature painting portraits of the past Nigeria’s Heads of State and President and the currect President and C-in-C. This exhibition is a sharp reminder of the journey, politics and history of Nigeria as a Nation.
ZONAL ART EXPO
These are Art Expos that are held in various geo- political zones of the country and coordinated by the NGA Zonal Coordinators who rely extensively on the outstations in their Zones.
ZONAL ART FAIR
Zonal Art Fairs are some of the NGA programmes organised and executed at the geo-political levels in different parts of Nigeria. , in other to give citizens and artists local artists a sense of belonging and an opportunity to showcase their work and access the art market.
IGUE FESTIVAL
Igue is a Benin Art festiva that holds mid December on an annual basis. The NGA headquarters collaborates with its Benin office and the Government of Edo State, to install an exhibition to mark this important festival. The aim of this programme is to market the NGA to tourists and the general public.
INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR, ABUJA
This International Art Fair holds in the capital city of Abuja, Nigeria. It is designed with the purpose of creating an opportunity for the local art market where creatives meet collectors and patrons. Its main purpose is to drive a vibrant art economy
