Gov Mbah Poises to Collaborate with NGA, Says Visual Art will be taken to the Next level

The governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Mbah, has promised to work hand-in-hand with National Gallery of Art (NGA) Enugu station with a view to taking visual art to the next level.
Gov Mbah made this pledge at an art exhibition organized by NGA Enugu station at its office in Enugu, with many artists in attendance.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Executive Secretary, Enugu state Art and Culture, Mr. Lawrence Ani, commended NGA Enugu for the exhibition and extolled the ingenuity of artists that exhibited their works.

In his speech, the Director -General of NGA, Mr Ahmmed B Sodangi, stressed that the exhibition resonates with his vision for NGA as the agency discharge its mandate in alignment with Mr President, Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Mr Sodangi, who was represented at the occasion by the Zonal Coordinator of NGA, South East zone ,Mrs Vera Chijoke noted that the exhibition was not just a collection of art works but serves as a platform foy dialogue, a statement of shared humanity and testament to the transformative power of art in fostering empathy and understanding.
He also praised NGA Enugu for organizing the exhibition and commended artists that have their works at the gallery noting that creations challenge conventions, expand horizons and reflect the beauty found in diversity whereby, medium of art assists in unifying the nation, promoting inclusion and bridging the divides in Nigeria.
Earlier in her address, the Head of Station/Curator, Mrs Pat Nkwocha, expressed gratitude to the Governor of Enugu state, Barr. Dr Peter Mbah for his efforts in putting the state in global map of art and tourism.
She also extended her thanks to the Director -General, NGA, Mr Sodangi for always supporting and encouraging NGA outside stations, particularly, Enugu station.


Meanwhile, the theme of the exhibition:” inclusivity” and participants of the exhibition had their art works reflect the theme.
Highlight of the exhibition was explanation of the art works by the respective artists to delight of the large audience that trooped to the gallery.
Some of the artists who have their works at the exhibition are: Mrs Ngozi Vera Chijoke, Mrs Pat Nkwocha, Mr Francis Ik Ejiofor, Head Curatorial Services, NGA, Enugu, Innocent Okoye, lecturer, Federal Polytecnic, Oko and Chief Izueke Eddy Okolo.
