Guinness World Record-Holder Kanyeyachukwu Visits National Gallery Of Art

The National Gallery of Art, Abuja, was honored by a courtesy visit from Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, a 15-year-old autistic artist who recently earned a Guinness World Record for creating the largest painting on canvas by an individual. He was accompanied by his parents Mr and Mrs Tagbo Okeke and the President of the Society of Nigerian Artists Mr. Suleiman Mohammed 

The visit served as a gesture of appreciation to the Director-General of the National Gallery of Art, Ahmed Bashir Sodangi, for his support and recognition of Kanyeyachukwu’s remarkable achievement. In his remarks, the Director-General described Kanyeyachukwu’s artistic feat as a “global and historical event” that has drawn the attention of the President of Nigeria.

Kanyeyachukwu’s record-breaking painting, titled Impossibility is a Myth, spans an impressive 12,303.87 square meters. It was unveiled at Eagle Square in Abuja on World Autism Awareness Day, with the goal of raising awareness and promoting acceptance of autism and mental health challenges.

The Director-General commended Kanyeyachukwu’s extraordinary talent, referring to him as a “genius,” and expressed keen interest in future collaborations between the National Gallery of Art and the young artist.

Kanyeyachukwu’s parents and the President of the Society of Nigerian Artists also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Director-General for his continued encouragement and support.
