Exploring Shapes and Forms through Dynamic Art Exercises;
National Gallery of Art Lagos Outstation – In a vibrant display of creativity and artistic expression,
The National Gallery of Art Lagos Outstation recently hosted a dynamic art exercise exploring shapes and forms. The event, which took place on March 29th at the Lagos station, brought together 13 students and two teachers for an engaging journey into the fundamental concepts of art.
During the comprehensive lesson, students were introduced to the basic principles of shapes and forms, developing their observational and drawing skills through hands-on exercises. The class employed a differentiated instructional approach, catering to the diverse needs and skill levels of the students.
In the secondary section, students analysed metal sculptures featuring geometric and organic forms, learning to identify and analyse shapes and forms, develop their drawing skills, and experiment with creative expression. In primary section pupils engaged in a dynamic exercise, utilising containers and a gallon arrangement to create and identify various shapes, developing their spatial awareness and visual perception skills.
To motivate and reward outstanding performance, prizes were awarded to the top 5 students who demonstrated exceptional understanding, creativity, and skill in their shape-drawing and form-creation exercises.
The Shapes and Forms lesson proved to be a resounding success, as students and pupils showcased enthusiasm, engagement, and a deepening understanding of fundamental art concepts. The dynamic and interactive approach fostered a supportive and stimulating learning environment, empowering students and pupils involved to develop their artistic skills, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.
