NGA Partners with Nigeria Health Watch for Art Exhibition on Maternal Health Awareness

The Director-General, National Gallery of Art, Ahmed Bashir Sodangi, received members of Nigeria Health Watch @nigeriahealthwatch in the audience at his office on March 18, 2025.The courtesy visit was to seek technical collaboration for the group’s art exhibition, “ Art as a catalyst for Improved Maternal Health,” scheduled on March 28, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

Responding to their request, the DG pledged his support for the exhibition, noting the importance and urgent need for greater stakeholder engagements towards preventing avoidable maternal death through providing inclusive, accessible and responsive healthcare programs. He further opined that the exhibition will create and enhance awarenesss about maternal health challenges, making it more understandable to the audience.

The team was led by Mr. Christopher Bassey, program and event manager; Mr Chibuike Alagboso, director of media programs; Adanna Opara, program manager was accompanied on the visit by Khadijali Adeboye, North Zonal Coordinator of Female Artists Association of Nigeria(FEAAN). Also in attendance were Mrs. Jane-Francis Gbujie, Director, Educational Services, NGA; Mr. Chris Obadan, representing the Director Curatorial Services, NGA and Mr. Emeka Odiari Ag. Director Informational Services, NGA. The exhibition will feature artworks by FEAAN @femaleartists.feaan and supported by those from the National Collection domiciled with NGA.
