NGA, NCC, holds a one-day partnership workshop on Copyright for staff

A workshop organized by the National Gallery of Art in partnership with the Nigerian Copyright Commission was held on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, at the Head of Service Complex, Block A, Atiku Hall. The theme: ” Nigerian Copyright law: Managing Copyright in the Visual Art, and strategies for preventing infringement.” The programme commenced at 11:15 a.m.
Staff from Professional departments, including those from outstations (virtual), attended the workshop. The Director-General of the National Gallery of Art was represented by the Director of Curatorial Services, Dr. Mufu Onifade, while the Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission was represented by Mrs. Olufumilayo Adewale. Directors from Professional departments and Legal Services were also in attendance.
The welcome address was delivered by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Alabi Adewale. The workshop was declared open by Dr. Mufu Onifade who represented the DG National Gallery of Art.
The workshop featured two sessions: An overview of the Copyright Law in Nigeria delivered by Mr Caleb Daniel and Managing Copyright in Visual Arts and Strategies for Preventing Infringement by Mrs. Olufumilayo Adewale. After the papers, participants engaged actively by asking questions related to the topics presented. Staff who joined virtually also participated by asking questions.
Overall, it was an insightful and engaging workshop.
The programme concluded at 2:50 p.m.
