Sodangi paid a courtesy call on the Pioneer DG of NGA.
On Friday, 21st June 2024, the Director-General, NGA, Ahmed Sodangi, along with Mr. Magnus Ojeonu, Director of the Special Duties Department, and Mrs. Ekene Okoroma, Directo ofr, General Services Department, had the immense honor of paying a courtesy visit to the the pioneer DG of the National Gallery of Art (NGA), Dr. Paul Chike Dike (OON).
Dr. Paul’s reception was truly heartwarming. The present DG expressed his appreciation for finding a mentor in Dr. Paul, describing him as a beacon of hope and a source of invaluable counsel and direction. Dr. Paul shared some of his experiences and challenges at NGA, offering invaluable advice on reintroducing some of the long-forgotten programs and distinguishing amongst various forms of contemporary visual art.
With a vibrant energy and a clear vision, Ahmed Sodangi expressed his commitment to restoring the National Collection, documenting, and digitizing it to make Nigerian art accessible to all. Exciting times ahead for Nigerian Art & Culture.
